Vicious Terrain (2012)

Vicious Terrain is a piece about space, it's about identity and movement across a dividing line.  This quartet is deciphered, encoded and performed by the Christopher Matthews Company. Vicious Terrain  is a commission of Janessa Clark in collaboration with the Webber Douglas Performance Space and will premiere in June 2012 as part of the Brink Festival. The work will then embark on a  nine city European tour.  Vicious Terrain is the second work of Christopher's to be commissioned in the last year, building on from the wildly successful performance work Forest. Vicious Terrain questions the ownership of space, the experience of time and the slippage of what we call home. The body is both site and departure point, home and destination: a playing field. This work proposes a new definition of terrain as it navigates the unknown.
